Passed away peacefully at Bardowie Rest Home on September 24, 2014 aged 99 years. Beloved wife of the late Jim. Loved mother of Pam, Marguerite, Judi, Jim (deceased) and Robert and their families. She will be sadly missed by her fifteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Special thanks for all the care and support she received during her three and a half years at Bardowie Rest Home.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life was held in the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes Street, Napier, on Monday, September 29.

Dear Mum Ansell.
Thank you so much for being such a lovely mother-in-law. You were always kind and caring towards me and always took an interest in mine and Jim's family. Whenever I sent you a card for your birthday, or at other times, you would reply almost immediately with news of yourself and best wishes for us. That really impressed me and I did appreciate it.
And I enjoyed our phone conversations when you would relate various events of your life to me and suddenly burst into a song from your earlier times. You made me laugh.
And I remember your coming to my 50th birthday party dressed in Flower Power and how you engaged the male stripper in conversation whilst he was in the middle of his act.
You always seemed open to everything and interested in what was going on.
A great role model.
I'm so glad I knew you.
