Passed away on November 25 2014 at Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital after a short illness.  Loved husband of the late Lyndsey Carroll.  Dedicated, loving and hard-working father and father-in-law of Andrew and Melissa, Jenni, James and Tracy.  Loved Poppa of Digby, Barker, Aspen-Rose, Kane, Hunter and Trinity.  We'll miss you lots.  Many thanks to HBRH staff for the care they provided in his last few days.  Friends and family attended Michael's farewell at the Dunstall Memorial Chapel, Edwardes St, Napier on Friday November 28.  Tributes may be left at our website www.dunstalls.co.nz or posted to the Carroll Family c/o P.O. Mike,
Sorry I missed the occasion on Friday. I didn't know about it until (nearly) now, otherwise I would have driven up for it. I don't know when first I met you - either late 1970s or early 1980s: it doesn't matter now. I do know that during the 20++ years that I worked with you, you were one of the a small number of clients for whom I had total respect: great gentlemen, much more reasonable person than most, great mind, and great friend. I could say much, much more but I think it's best I confine myself to saying this - my life has been much the better for having spent a large chunk of it knowing and working with you. Thanks mate, and to Jenni and your other children that I don't know, my very very sincere condolences: I too feel a great loss here, but I will also always value the memories of what a great guy your Dad was.

Mike was a wonderful colleague and friend and we shared many happy and memorable times while working together at UDC.
I was fortunate to have an enjoyable phone conversation with Mike at Labour Weekend.
