Passed away suddenly on November 8, 2013 with family present. Dearly loved husband of Sylvia, loved father and father-in-law of Nicola and Hayden, and Melanie. Cherished and adored grandfather. A celebration of Neil’s life was held in the Bay City Outreach Centre Church, 1200 Omahu Road, Hastings on Tuesday, November 12 at 11.00am. Hello Sylvia - You'll be as surprised to hear from me, as I was to read of your sad loss of Neil. I vaguely recall my earliest days at the Hawkes Bay Education Board and I think you were the first staff appointment I was involved with. I expect you'll well remember that old Board building in Browning Street and the construction closeby of the new Telephone Exchange building in the late 1960's. Am I right in thinking that Neil was one of the young carpenters on that job who took a fancy to one of our young ladies and the rest is history? One never likes to hear of the passing of anyone, but especially if they're so much younger. My sincere condolences. Charlie Bell

Although eight years is a relatively short time to know someone and our relationship was mostly work related I felt compelled to write a small tribute to thankyou for the laughs we had, proof that different back grounds and natures mean nothing and people of all walks can get on famously.
Until we meet again old boy.
